Climate Change Adaptation

Flooding in Greve 2007
Flooding in Greve 2002

In the light of the severe floodings in Greve, Greve is now investing significantly in building capacities to cope with future flooding incidences. Adaptation of the city to climate change is undertaken using a 'strategy model' developed by Greve municipality. The model is used to help prioritize those areas of the city to undergo adaptation initially.

In the article from 'Journal of Nordregio' you will find a short description of the work with climate changes in Greve here.

Due to the The European Commission Action plan a study of "The economics of climate change adaptation in EU coastal areas" has been carried out. The project provides insights in the state-of-play and financial dimension of the actions undertaken to prepare Europe’s coastal zones as well as the outermost regions for the effects of climate change. Furthermore, this study compares the different climate change adaptation aspects from an empirical perspective with results drawn from dedicated scientific literature. The Study includes 23 specific reports for each of the 22 coastal Member States and the Outermost Regions. In report for Denmark, Greves work with adapting to climate changes is generally described: http://ec.europa.eu/maritimeaffairs/climate_change/denmark_en.pdf
